The National Police Accountability Project (NPAP), a national civil rights organization dedicated to holding law enforcement accountable, is offering a paid Summer Law Clerk Internship for 2L law students. This position provides hands-on experience in civil rights litigation, legislative advocacy, and policy work, making it ideal for students pursuing a career in public interest law.

Responsibilities

As a Summer Law Clerk, you will:

  • Conduct legal research and drafting of memoranda and briefs.
  • Attend case strategy meetings and contribute to litigation planning.
  • Support all phases of civil rights litigation.
  • Assist in developing legislative strategies and policy advocacy.
  • Contribute to NPAP’s amicus support in appellate cases.

Requirements

  • Current 2L law student.
  • Strong interest in public interest litigation and civil rights law.
  • Skills in litigation, legal research, and legal drafting (required).
  • Commitment to advancing NPAP’s mission of accountability in law enforcement.

Internship Details

  • Duration: June 1 – August 7, 2026 (10 weeks)
  • Compensation: $5,000 stipend (two installments)
  • Type: Full-time, Temporary Internship
  • Location: Remote (in-person option available)
